After we left the party, we drove into the city. It was actually the first time I was in Chicago for the nightlife as I only lived nearby for a couple months. The skyline looked amazing. It was all lit up and the buildings looked like they went on forever as we drove down the highway into the city. I could look at this view all night. Zack noticed my awe and said, ” I forget what we have here sometimes. I’m here so much. It’s almost like I live here not at my place.”
When we were finally in the city, he drove expertly though the streets. It was almost like being in canyons made of glass and concrete. It was strange the loop seemed deserted at this hour of the night. Every city I’ve been to has at least some activity at all hours of the night. We drove around a bit, until finally Zack decided on a place. We parked the car on the street and headed toward the club. There were so many people on the street, because you couldn’t smoke inside public buildings anymore.
It was just as crowded inside. The dancefloor was packed, and the bar was surrounded. Zack motioned to an employee and we were taken to a lounge area, the VIP lounge. Apparently he’s been here before! We had a great view of the dance floor and a personal server for the night. We ordered drinks and settled onto a couch. After awhile, a few people came up and started talking to Zack. He introduced me and we all started chatting. After awhile I began to get bored of the conversation. Most of the people who were talking to us were a little older and all they were talking about was business.
“I’m going to walk around,” I said as I stood up and gulped down the rest of my drink.
“Ok,” Zack said “Text me if you can’t find me later.”
I went out of the VIP area and decided to hit the dance floor. The music was great. I like dancing even though I’m not the best at it. There were some great dancers on the floor. This one guy looked like he was double jointed or something. Normal people couldn’t move the way he could!
I was just dancing in the crowd, feeling the music and alcohol flow through me when I felt a hand on me. I almost jumped before I glanced around and saw a cute girl in a minidress. She had short platinum blonde hair, brown eyes and pouty lips. I thought she was cute. She came up in front of me with her back toward me and pressed up against me. She rubbed her body up and down mine. It felt amazing! I held her and danced with her that way for a few songs. I felt like I could never get tired of this. After awhile, we took a break from dancing and stood on the side of the dancefloor watching the action.
“I’m Jessica,” she said. “I was watching you before I came and danced with you. You can really move.”
“Thanks. Nice to meet you. It was great dancing with you,” I said, “Can I get you something to drink?”
“Sure a vodka and pineapple juice.”
I went to get the drinks from the VIP lounge. There was no way I was waiting in that line. I checked on Zack. He and his friends were still imersed in thier conversation about the Yen and the Japanese economy. He did wink at me when he saw me though, so he wasn’t totally oblivious to the world around him. I went back out and handed Jessica her drink.
“I didn’t know you were a member of the club,” she said with wide eyes, “I’ve never seen a member out here on the dance floor. Usually they just hang out in the lounge over there. I’ve never been in there.”
“I’m not, I just came with a friend. I didn’t know he was a member. I didn’t know this was that kind of club.” I answered.
“Yeah, It’s really hard to get a membership. They only have so many. I heard they only have as many members as there are chairs in the lounge. That way if all of them showed up at once, they’d all have a seat. I think all the members know each other, or at least they’re all movers and shakers in the city.”
That sounded about right from the conversation I’d been privy to in the lounge. I wondered if it was true that membership was so limited and why anyone would want to be a member really. There must’ve been more to it then Jessica knew. Jessica and I sipped our drinks and talked. We struggled to keep up a conversation. We didn’t really have that much in common. I could tell she was getting a little bored.
“Want to dance some more?” I asked.
“Sure. Lets go.” She replied.
We headed back on the dance floor and happened to be in front of the glass wall of the lounge. It just looked like a mirror from our side, but from inside the lounge you could see out. I didn’t know it, but Zack was in there watching us dance and smiling as she rubbed up against me.
